Everyone Has to Start Somewhere!

Never taken an art class before? Haven’t drawn since Middle School? Don’t consider yourself “creative” or “an artist”? You’re right where you belong.

Hey - we get it. Art intimidation is a real thing. And the internet hasn’t made things much better - we’re constantly comparing ourselves to where others are at. That’s why here at New Heights, we’re not looking to compare ourselves to the person next to us or halfway around the world - we’re looking to meet you where you’re at. So no matter if you’re the next DaVinci, Banksy, or if stick figures are a big ask for you - you belong here.

New Student FAQ

Some of our most common questions from new and sometimes anxious students. Not seeing the particular question you want answered? Just hit the “Contact Us” tab to connect with us!

  • Not even a little. Our Fine Art: Beginner courses and Art Class courses are designed to meet you where you’re at. And if that’s the starting line? Amazing!

  • The full class experience will vary somewhat based on what you’re signing up for - but there are some things we generally include:

    • Supplies are provided unless otherwise notated

    • A relaxed, welcoming vibe

    • Step-by-step guidance

    • Encouragement, not critique

What you create, you take! (plus a little paint or charcoal on your hands!)

  • Most classes include the materials unless specifically notated in the class description. We recommend bringing clothes you care less about - even masterwork artists spill, fleck, and accidentally wipe charcoal on their faces!

  • Good! Listen - our art programs here aren’t just about being impressive, we’re learning how to be expressive. We’re going to focus on process over perfection and hey - added bonus, people tend to look back at their original works and realize that they’re improving just by doing that alone.
