    Starting in June, New Heights will be running some new classes, new workshops, and all the summer fun! Our July selection features a second Watercolor Workshop AND a Drawing 101 course! Let the good times roll!

Basic Rules and Regulations

While these things can sometimes feel like a drag - it is vital that these rules are read, agreed to, and adhered to. We appreciate your cooperation in making everybody feel welcome at New Heights School of Art!

Welcome to New Heights School of Art - a creative space built on respect, inclusion, and the safety and freedom of expression. To ensure a safe and supportive environment for everybody, all students, staff, and visitors are expected to follow the following rules and regulations:

  • We proudly welcome people of all identities, backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. We do not permit discrimination or harassment of any kind - including those based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or age. Respect each person’s name, pronouns, and boundaries at all times.

  • Bullying, intimidation, and hate speech is strictly prohibited, and will result in immediate removal from the premises and potential permanent ban from New Heights School of Art.

  • Safe Space Commitment: This is a safe space for creative expression and personal growth. We encourage open dialogue, but not at the expense of others’ safety or dignity. We at New Heights are aware of the state of the world, and do ask that if another student or staff asks you to change the subject of conversation due to sensitivities to please do so.

  • Studio Conduct

    • Respect shared spaces, materials, and equipment. Damaged equipment or materials beyond normal wear and tear will be charged to the student (or their grown up for our younger students) for replacement.

    • Clean up your workspace after each session

    • Follow all instructor guidelines and safety instructions

    • Do not use another student’s materials or artwork without express permission

  • Age Restrictions & ID Policy

    • Certain of our classes are rated 18+ and may require a photo ID for entry. Failure to provide an ID when requested may result in denied entry and/or removal without refund.

  • Communications and Consent

    • Consent is required before critique, photographing, filming, or sharing images of others or their work.

  • Cancellations, Refunds, and Attendance

    • Registration in advance is recommended here at New Heights as we do have limited seating for our classes. Should you need to cancel a registration, please note the following timelines for refunds:

      • 1 week+ notice - refund in full

      • 24hrs-1 week notice - 20% cancellation fee

      • Within 24 hours notice - no refund

    • Classes without attendees 30 minutes after the start of class will be considered canceled.

    • Students arriving 30 minutes late or more will be considered a cancellation without refund. For Guest Artist Courses, students arriving 15 minutes late or more will be considered canceled without admittance.

    • Excessive no-shows, late arrivals, or cancellations may impact your ability to register for courses - please communicate if accommodations are needed and we will do our best to work with you!

    • Life happens - if your instructor has to cancel a course due to emergency or illness, all students signed up at the time of cancellation will receive a full refund. We will do our best to email out communications to those enrolled - otherwise we recommend adding New Heights School of Art on Facebook or Instagram for latest in changes to scheduled class.

  • Right to Refuse Service

    • We at New Heights School of Art have the right to refuse service to anyone who violates the above policies. Decisions are made to protect the well-being of our community and staff.

    If you experience or witness behavior that violates the guidelines listed here, please report it to staff immediately. Reports will be handled with care, respect, and confidentiality whenever possible.
